Hey there, I'm Carmen Davis, creator of Be. I'm a mindset and mental wellness coach. I've practiced as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker  and mental health advocate for over a decade. During that time I worked with people from all backgrounds across the physical/mental/emotional health continuum. I recognized that healthcare is hyper-focused on physical health but mental wellness is often the driving force behind our overall health and sense of wellbeing.

 

That experience has proven invaluable, however the greatest motivation for this work has come from my own personal experiences. I grew up in an environment where mental health was not acknowledged. Instead of giving name to mental health, there were all kinds of alternative explanations: having spells instead of panic attacks, feeling low instead of depressed, just a little off instead of having a MH disorder and when a loved one completely isolated themselves, we just made up lies to tell our friends and left them alone until they "came out of it." I knew something wasn't right but that's just the way it was. So, I'm passionate about removing the stigma around mental health in the Black community and dismantling every belief system that discourages acknowledgement, treatment, prevention and healthy coping strategies.

I created Be. to equip you with practical tools to nurture your mental space, support you on your journey and create a community committed to mental wellness.
